He&#8217;s embarrassed. Ashamed. Confused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He assumes there must be something psychologically wrong with him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After all, why else would anyone willingly give away their hard-earned money?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is nothing in modern psychology that classifies financial domination, or the desire to submit financially, as a mental illness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, the assumption itself says far more about society than it does about submissive men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We Often Mistake Unusual for Unhealthy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People have a tendency to believe that anything outside the social norm must be evidence of something broken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A man who enjoys football is considered normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A man who spends thousands restoring classic cars is passionate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A woman who spends hundreds on handbags is indulging a hobby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A person who donates generously to charity is praised for their generosity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet when a man voluntarily gives money to a dominant woman because it fulfils a deep psychological or sexual need, people are quick to ask whether he&#8217;s mentally ill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because it challenges our expectations of masculinity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From a young age, men are taught to accumulate wealth, display success, compete, lead and remain in control. Financial submission turns that script upside down. Instead of acquiring status, the submissive willingly relinquishes it. Instead of controlling, he chooses to serve. They buy gifts, pay for holidays, treat loved ones to dinner or spend thousands supporting hobbies that bring them joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Financial submission simply gives money a different meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather than symbolising ownership or status, it symbolises surrender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When Does It Become Unhealthy?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can financial domination become unhealthy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But so can almost anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People develop unhealthy relationships with gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shopping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even romantic relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That doesn&#8217;t mean those activities are mental illnesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Likewise, if someone is spending beyond their means, neglecting responsibilities or feels unable to stop despite serious consequences, the issue isn&#8217;t that they enjoy findom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The issue is the loss of control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s an important distinction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saying that findom is a mental illness because some people engage in it compulsively is like saying running is a mental illness because some people become addicted to exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The behaviour isn&#8217;t the diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why the Stigma Still Exists<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The real discomfort surrounding findom has very little to do with psychology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has everything to do with masculinity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Society is comfortable with men pursuing power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Less comfortable with men giving it away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A man who dominates is often admired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A man who submits is questioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A man who spends money to impress a romantic partner is seen as generous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A man who sends money to a Mistress as an act of submission is labelled irrational.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The behaviour isn&#8217;t fundamentally different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The context is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that context makes many people deeply uncomfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Verdict<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is financial domination a mental illness?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is it unusual?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For most people, yes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can it become part of an unhealthy pattern for certain individuals?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Absolutely\u2014but so can countless other perfectly ordinary behaviours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The desire to submit financially doesn&#8217;t mean a man is broken. It doesn&#8217;t mean he&#8217;s weak, irrational or psychologically damaged.
